Greg Horan and I decided to venture out of the 55° temperatures in southern CT to find where the snow still hangs on. We decided to drive all the way up to Norfolk, where brief snow flurries actually came about every now and then! It was a windy and chilly 41° degrees up in the woods by Dennis Hill State Park off of Route 272. At an elevation of 1525', the snow measured 10"-15" in the shady spots. It was perfect for some late season snowshoeing, with a far different feeling from the warmer and busy North Haven. There's nothing like getting up to the woods, looking at everyone's chimney going on a day where you know it's much warmer back at home. The Icebox of Connecticut is like a mini Vermont within our own state. Anyone who appreciates the snow or wants to see it one last time; Norfolk is the place to go.
