As nice as it was with highs in the 60's and 70's across Connecticut today, temperatures were even warmer to our north with 80°+ temperatures.

An usually prominent ridge extends into southeastern Canada. With a flow of warm air, portions of upstate New York, northern New England and even Canada have had some temperatures reach the 80's both yesterday and today.

The image below shows some temperatures from 3 p.m. this afternoon:

Another factor for slightly cooler temperatures down here is that south and southeasterly winds are resulting in somewhat of an onshore flow. The coastal plain only had temperatures in the 60's to lower 70's today. If you went a step further, there are actually warmer temperatures aloft, behind advected into Canada. 850mb temperatures in Connecticut were around +7 to +8C today, but go to the Canadian border against New York and readings were around +10C there.

A retrograding upper level system east of New England will bring some cooler air into the region for Friday, along with winds out of the east to northeast. Even with that said, highs in most areas should reach the 60's during the day on Friday.
