A line of very dangerous thunderstorms is approaching western Connecticut.

The line of storms has had a history of producing damaging winds and large hail. There have also been numerous tornado warnings associated with this storm.
There is a Tornado Warning in effect for Sullivan County, NY until 6:30 p.m.

  • Reports came in from the Elmira, NY area, just north of the PA/NY border, of major storm damage. People trapped in cars and buildings, roofs blown off houses and many trees down.

The line of storms will be reaching the NY/CT border between 6:45 and 7:00 p.m., give or take 15 to 30 minutes.

Anyone in Fairfield or Litchfield County near the NY border should begin to take cover indoors and avoid travel NOW. Strong winds of 50+ MPH are possible, bringing down trees and power lines. In addition, hail is a possibility, so make sure any cars are parked in sheltered areas, if available.
