Storms are a force of nature and thus power outages are not 100% predictable or preventable.

United Illuminating is working every day to ensure high reliability to all of its customers, and to keep you safe in the event of the loss of power.

Here are some important storm readiness tips for all homeowners:

  • Make sure batteries and flashlights are working
  • Charge your supply of extra rechargeable batteries ahead of time so you have backups
  • Store containers of water for washing and toilet flushing, especially if you have a well
  • Fill your bath tub with extra water
  • Stockpile non-perishable foods and keep extra drinking water on hand

UI encourages you to take precautions to keep yourself and your family comfortable and safe while we work to restore your power.
