Strong winds are likely Friday morning and winds could gust over 50 MPH.

A Wind Advisory is in effect for northern Litchfield County, the coastline and all of southeastern Connecticut. In these areas, wind gusts between 40 to 50 MPH are likely. The strongest wind gusts could reach 50 to 55 MPH along the immediate shoreline from Bridgeport to the Rhode Island border.

The time-frame with the strongest winds should be between 6 a.m. and noon.

At this time, the computer model data indicates winds of 80+ MPH at 925mb along the shoreline. The GFS suggests those winds could be even higher further inland. Those types of winds will probably not mix well down to the surface.
A good analog date is 12/17/2000. A low pressure system took a similar track and the 850mb wind field matched up closely with what is forecast for tomorrow. On that date, winds gusted to 51 MPH at Windham Airport and 56 MPH at Groton. Elsewhere, gusts were generally between 39 and 48 MPH.

One note: The 6z GFS had 850mb winds as high as 109 MPH in NW CT!
