Above image is the Climate Prediction Center's temperature outlook for next week, January 8th through the 12th. The place most of the East Coast under a 50%+ probability of having above normal temperatures for the time-frame.

Current forecast guidance indicates that temperatures will likely rise into the 40's by the middle of next week, but readings could get into the mid-50s by next Thursday and Friday. An area of high pressure is predicted to develop across the Atlantic and this may allow for a southwest flow to push unseasonably mild air up into the Northeast.

The new 12z Euro pushes 850mb temperatures to +12C by next Thursday. If this were to verify, 2-meter temperatures could warm as high as the upper 50's. Meanwhile, the GFS is not nearly as warm, it still has +5C 850mb temps, which could result in temperatures reaching the lower 50's.
Although details can be sorted out down the road, there is a strong signal for at least somewhat above normal temperatures, if not well above normal.Interact with me via Facebook or Twitter for more detailed info and forecasts:
