Today there is a risk for severe weather through the afternoon and evening. The SPC has Connecticut under slight risk. The setup which includes an unseasonably strong upper level low over the Great Lakes with cooler temperatures aloft is interacting with a warm moist air mass over our region. A Cold Front will slowly push through this evening which will help to fire these storms. We all know how humid it has been today, with dew point values in the 70’s it won’t take much for these storms to grow once they get going. Also there is a lot of available moisture in the atmosphere, so these storms will be heavy rain makers. These two air masses clash and the results could mean severe weather, heavy rain, gusty winds, hail and even a tornado in some locations. Click through the slides to learn more.
